Jim's Retirement Party (Libertyville, IL): Alongside the 2001 vintage. Well spiced and slightly floral with intense black cherry and berry throughout. Elegant and subtle start, but this goes on and on, carried forward by silky structure. Much better today vs when last tried five years ago, today's bottle really showed both the Nuits and Vosne styles I like from this terroir in the best vintages.

Jim's Retirement Party (Libertyville, IL): One of my favourites today. Gorgeously rich nose of black fruit and Nuits dirt. Perfumed and slightly spicy too. On the palate, this has a similarly lovely blend of spice, earth, and fruit. Silky texture, this is drinking incredibly well right now.

Took a while to blossom but so classically Meo. Dark and purple fruit, spice, smoke, ripe, earthy. Representative in every way. 93
