Deep of colour and possessing a barely evolved nose loaded with Asian spice, sarsaparilla root and black cherry. It is plush, layered and powerful. Nowhere near ready for prime time but very good.

2023 New Year's Day Blind Tasting (Marietta, GA): See through dark ruby; touch of VA, pretty nose, sweet darker berry and plum; reductive and powerful, structured, plum, darker red fruit, still quite youthful and a little 4 square; 2010 Grivot Vougeot?

2023 New Year's Day Double Blind Tasting: Served blind. I really loved this Burgundy and was surprised how approachable it is being that it is a 2005 vintage. This is one of the first 2005 Burgs that I've had that isn't tough as nails. That said, at this point in the evening, palate fatigue had set in. I wish this had been served earlier in the evening.

Burgundy Dinner with Friends (Andros Taverna): Opened and decanted 45 minutes before serving. This kept opening and opening and opening with more air. So much ripe red and black cherry, there were some hints of SO2 and possibly some CO2, but those gradually dissipated with more air. Very good now, but even further upside, which is no surprise for 2005,.

Dark and extracted, and not showing much Dujac character at this stage of its evolution. Needs at least 3-5 more years like most 05s.
