Remarkably dark red. More like a Morgon. On the palate that comparison is apt. Dense, somewhat tannic, there is good material but not like any Poulsard I've had before, lacking that litheness you get from the grape. Special to try.

Hey, I totally forgot that I had this wine 4 years ago. It doesn't taste anything like it did then, apparently. Looks like it found some serious structure that may have been dormant. I was actually surprised by this, since I was expecting something more developed than the 2004, but it was actually much less developed. It had a pretty healthy amount of tannin where the '04 was showing none at all, which made it mildly harder to get a read on even though it had more material to it, some of which you could still call fruit which was actually fairly deep and dark. Shocking. It might even have had more going on than the '04 did although the structure made it harder for me to discern it with as much clarity. A fascinating contrast, thrilling to get the opportunity to try these two side by side.

Weygandt Wine BYO (Weygandt Wines, Cleveland Park, Washington D.C.): Aromatics on this wine were simply remarkable. Lithe cranberry tones mingled with leafy tones, earthy elements and spice. Another example of a wine that was incredibly enjoyable JUST to smell. The palate, thankfully, took the aromatics to dizzying heights. Thought the fruit came through incredibly ripe, pure, & racy with lots of cranberry and sour cherry. Add to that the undercurrent of iron, truffle, earth, and spice and this is the complete package.

(Emmanuel Houillon (Maison Pierre Overnoy) Poulsard Arbois Pupillin) Light brick red color with clear meniscus; sous bois, tart strawberry, mineral nose; tasty, tart red fruit, tart strawberry, mineral, sous bois palate with firm tannins; medium-plus finish

New Yorkers welcome West Coast visitors to Peking Duck House, but the wine Gods were angry. (Peking Duck House- Midtown): Shows some Brett and funk on the nose, but not enough to overshadow the bright red fruit and earth notes. It's really come together nicely with sprightly acidity, crunchy earth and mineral notes, tart strawberry and cranberry fruit with a bit of earth and horse sweat. Maybe a touch drying on the finish, but this is showing very well. Solid A-.
