  • A lovely old wine – dusty attic, autumn leaves, perky sweet black cherry, cardamom and black pepper, a gentle and exquisitely balanced finish. To those of you who report you have 347 bottles of this wine in your cellar – drink up, people!

  • Au nez des beaux arômes sudistes, en bouche pas d'alcool mais des parfums typiques de l’appellation. Le vin s'est bien tenu, une belles structure, une belle longueur , pas d’acidité. C'est toujours un beau vin, très agréable.

  • Drinking very well. Clean. Nice fruit. The posted drinking window is way too conservative. This will go several more years.

  • Lovely wine, hitting its peak! Allow this wine at least 30 minutes to open up as at first the saddle sweat aroma is a little overpowering, however, with air this fades into the background to provide just the right amount of “funk.” On the nose black cherry, raspberry and leather come out strong with dried herbs (i.e. sage, thyme and oregano), licorice, cinnamon and white pepper. Further aeration reveals white pepper, lavender, asphalt and the aforementioned sweaty saddle (albeit in a mellowed state). On the nose this wine would be a 96-98 as it offers all the complexities that one would hope for in a Chateauneuf du Pape, however, the palate, while good, falls short of greatness as it lacks precision of flavor and the finish is medium in length. The tannins are well integrated, but still have some grip and the mouthfeel is round and medium bodied. The palate offers dried cranberries with a black tea and spice tinged finish. Excellent wine!
