  First, I’d like to deduct 7 points for sheer difficulty in opening the bottle through a substantial wax coating substituting for foil … but I won’t. Thanks to my lovely wife for the exceptional teamwork.
  
  Inky, full-bodied, purple Syrah. Improved somewhat in decanter. Plus acid, medium fruit, good concentration, plush tannins, and a nice, but not extended, finish. Enjoyable, but moderately disappointing at this price point. This is the first vintage I’ve had and I’ve loved other Blair Fox Syrahs, so hoping it’s an off year.
