The 34 Ducru Beaucaillou is really a delicious wine - so full of life and vigor I surely would have guessed it from the 1950s rather than the 1930s if tasted blind. Still a deep, ruby robe. Big, assertive nose, full of ripe redcurrant, mineral, iron, leather, and cedar - just a bit of a savory sweet personality. Pretty ravishing stuff.

Ducru Beaucaillou - 90 year Retrospective (Boston Harbor Hotel): WOW outstanding. This really is a wine that knocked me out of my chair. Served from magnum, and at total testament to the quality of these bottles when properly stored over the long haul. In this flight the color was so much deeper than the 29. Nose of beef blood, plum, ginger, spice, lavender and black cherry stem. Plate was delicate yet vigorous with blackberry, raspberry and thyme. Cedar, biscut and violet notes rippled through the edges of the palate.

90 years of Ducru Beaucaillou: Wow - granted this is from a single owner magnum with a base neck fill, but what an astonishingly vibrant, winning wine. Huge, pungent nose of redcurrant, iron, cedar, earth, and mineral. Rich, dense if not exactly voluptuous but so full of spirit and verve. Frankly, among the most thrilling stuff I have had in a long time. This is fabulous and complements the powdery, elegant 1929 in the next glass magnificently.

The color looked like a 2000. But the palate was slightly maderized. I have to say, I got a distinct brandy note from this bottle.
