Tasted double-blind at Vintage Wines, Ltd. Bottle provided by Erik Miller. Bright disc. Medium ruby robe with red rim. Clean nose, showing very intense (over-ripe) aromas of raisins, prunes, plum, and other ripe fruits. Medium-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, light-to-medium sweet tannins and similar over-ripe flavors as for the nose. Medium, smooth finish. Of six tasters present, none even guessed the varietal. Guesses were split between a Zinfandel or new-world Syrah. This wine is a big disappointment (considering all of the good press given to this new venture in the Santa Rita Hills). Although quite drinkable, there is virtually no varietal character.
