Very funky noise of mushroom and iron. The palette to come was obvious from the nose. Lean fruit and some VA on the mid-palette, leaving with a long--lingering finish of leather and cured meat. And meat. Lots of meat. Very good, very austere and this particular bottle was fully nature and not to be held.

Northern Rhone Dinner Part 1 - Cote Rotie (Vancouver, BC): Very stinky and mature nose of salty meats, olive tapenade and iron. Very Cornas like. Lighter on the savory palate with good acidity and resolved tannins. A bit dirty, but I like 'em that way. Drink now. Excellent.

Garnet with tawny rim followed by warmth, spice, charred wood and bacon fat aromas. Complex. Spicy and cinnamon on palate with refreshing acidity and still firm and ripe tannins. Superb balance freshness and finesse.
