The Blind Drunks monthly tasting (Chateau Lay): Dark garnet color. Notes of tobacco, tea leaf and dark fruit. Flavors of dark fruit and herbs, with sweet tannins and a long finish. 90+ pts.
The group was split between CA cab & Bordeaux. We did double and triple takes when this was unveiled. Could be the biggest surprise in my 3+ years of blind tasting.

Average, average, average. This is exactly why Merlot gets a bad rap. It wasn't bad, it was just OK. Why drink OK when you can have good? Might as well be Two-buck Chuck. Survey says...boring.

I think this bottle was mildly corked or way past it's prime. It had a yeasty smell and no flavor. We tossed it after about 2 sips.
