I am really quite pleased with how well this bottling has aged. Other wines from the same producer and vintage are showing a fair amount of age while the Two Barns has retained a more youthful vibe. While it's lost some of the once unique character, it holds up as a good example of Oregon Pinot from a lovely warm vintage.

While the rest of Domaine Serene’s 2005 vintage starts to fade, the Two Barns Vineyard is showing beautifully. It retains the funky character it had in its youth, but there’s a refinement that’s come with age. The aromas from the glass are barnyard, forest floor, and dark red fruits. On the palate, a burst of flavor, fresh acidity, and tannin structure still intact. This wine is just coming down from its peak and shows a hint of oxidation that some (Myself included) really enjoy. A stellar showing from one of Serene’s most distinct properties.

As a pop and pour, this wine is interesting, but needs a little time to develop and really shine.
Consumed over the course of about 3 hours... In the glass, a very dark garnet color with some serious barnyard funk on the nose. This wine is incredibly unique and has aged very well. Once the flavors were integrated, it's amazing to see how much dark fruit is still shining here. Bright acidity, spice, vanilla, earthiness and sweet fruit lead to a lingering medium finish. It's quite a complex beast (and definitely a new world style of Pinot) that simply needs time to be fully appreciated...

Dark fruit, a little funk, and some light spice. This wine is just all around goodness. Amazing to see the journey it's taken over the last 15 years.
