To start with the wine has a rich aroma of vanilla and grape juice that blend together well. It also has a hint of freshly cut tobacco. When you open it and take that first sip, initially you are greeted with a chalky taste but as you swirl the wine and let it air out you are rewarded with mild tannins, wonderful vanilla beans, a mild oak flavor, perhaps just a touch of peanuts. It does retain the traditional Merlot cotton mouth dryness to the extreme as the after taste which is why I rate it slightly lower.

Estate labeled as a merlot, but more of a Meritage as it is blended with 3 other grapes. well balanced wine, with supple fruit and tannins.
