Second bottle I had of this, and it was a bit surprising. The first bottle was dominated by dark berry, plum, cedar, som herbal, liqorice and olive. On top of that felt a bit hot. The second bottle, which I decanted for an hour, was completely dominated by red berries - raspberry, strawberry and red wineberries - being good friends with some toned down cedar, garrigue and liqorice and the alcohol (15%) wasn't anything I gave any thought at all. Bottle number went with pizza and then was had on it's own. Me and my dinner guest finished of the bottle rather quickly. Good stuff.

Brown spice and American oak introduce a nose that then yields flavors of wild blackberry, slate, wet pebble, and cedar box. Firm tannic stucture frames the wild berry notes here. Taut and acidic at the edges, but the core of brambleberry shines through.

Had with a day old cassoulet, and it was awesome. Nose of kalamata olives and cedar, lots of heavy earth. Palate has a heavy but well integrated tannin, with a good, strong red fruit presence with plenty of earth and herbal elements. Nice hearty stuff that feels like it's good for you.

In a pretty good place still. Much better on night two than night one. More on the elegant red fruited side of Syrah but with grippy tannins.
