Unexpectedly, enjoyable. The bouquet was less noticeable but to be fair my olfactory abilities have been on the wane. Perhaps my age has taken its toll. A very rich palate and a lingering finish. Surprise!

Purchased at WineX, who recently offered some older Aussie reds. Tasted over two days - consistent throughout. Cork was very soft, but I used an Ah-so and it came out in one piece but with a couple of soft cork fragments where the Ah-so came into contact with it. As others have noted, strong roasted note on the nose and palate (probably due to barrel toast?). Not a favorite of mine, for sure. Still dense and thick, with some ripe Syrah character and some sweetness from the alcohol. Ripeness is still apparent, though not porty like one might expect (unlike a couple of older Turley Zins that I've had in recent years). Overall, not really a style I enjoy very much, but proved an interesting experience trying an older Aussie Shiraz from the fruit bomb era.

I was quite surprised by this one. It was noticeably less than I faintly remember from years back but pretty darn good.

Surprisingly good! Still fairly rich and full bodied and only complaint is a bit too much of a coffee taste, but overall a nice glass of mature wine.
