Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • ProWein 2008, Day 2 (Duesseldorf, Germany): The best of the red-slate vineyards. Same alcohol level as the Fahrlay (app. 14.8%), but even more residual sugar. And it shows--this wine just seems a bit congested. Not my style. Too much of a really good thing, loosing a little bit of the delicacy which makes Riesling so alluring. It would appeal to some, I think, who like serious weight in their white wine, and serious fruit. But the residual sugar remains a touch of issue, at least marginally more so than in the Fahrlay.
