  • The last of these great bottles. I started with a mixed case of 2005 and 2006. Looking back, I really liked the 2005 at release. As it aged it got a little flabby and overblown. This vintage has aged wonderfully. If you can find a well stored bottle, grab it. It's easily worth $100-$150. Drank over an hour, its still rewarding us with hidden nuances and complexity.

Color. Holding strong at red, with a tiny bit of brick at the edge.

Nose. Depending on the glass, it's very rich with grilled meats, bacon, smoke, burnt cherry, salami. In a more convex glass, its floral, sweet, and fruity.

Palate. Fruits consist of dried cherry, craisins, and red plum skins. There's some spices too. Surprisingly there's copious tannins and acidity. The finish lasts and lasts. The tannins don't fade.

    So fucking good.

  • This wine shows breeding and elegance, especially in the way that all of the elements work together. Something straight-forward and direct, pure and, at the same time, complex. Its velvety texture jumps out first, followed by dark red fruit. Dense. Significant rim variation. Right from opening to nearly 5 hours later, aromas of aged wine, lasting integrated flavors beginning with forest floor, dark cherry, roses, an underlayer of spice, and soil. Light on its feet and at the same time, a mouthful of flavor, red fruits, marked acidity but resolved tannins, and a bit hot but also a long, long delicious finish.

  • Impressed. Not expecting anything special. Sous bois and secondary notes. Very well balanced. Red fruited. Not at all over ripe. Good acidity and fruit balance. Solid.

  • Very pretty tonight with lots of softer blue and red fruit, earthy sous bois notes and abit of Asian spice. The structure has mostly resolved and to my tastes this is completely mature and drinking beautifully.

  • Double decanted for several hours, but this was drinking really well tonight almost immediately after opening with lots of softer, round, dark fruit, earth, souls bois, Asian spice notes and plenty of finer grained, chalky tannins on the longish finish. There's good depth to the midweight flavors here. All in all, this was quite nice and while there doesn't seem to be any hurry to drink this one up, for my tastes there's no reason to wait.
