Drank half on Christmas off coravin and 4 hour decant over several hours. Second half Dec 26 off 90 minute decant over 2.5 hours. The clarity of the fruit is stunning, but in the first few hours is overwhelmed by spice box and later by the tannic astringency. There is a sweet spot from hour 3 to hour 4 where the wine approaches balance but never quite breaks through. It is lovely but far too young. Would give it another 5 years. Point rating is just, but at maturity this will be much more. Patience.

Jordan Intro-Retro (Zoom / Chicago): Double blind. Very attractive nose of sexy, spicy black cherry with excellent florals. Concentrated red cherry with nice brightness. Texturally complex. Still has some structure and bite in the finish. Upside from here. My #5, Group #2.

Chicago Wine Flock...Burgundy Double Blind from JW (Chicagoland IL): Tasting double blind in Jadot Bonnes Mares flight. Complex array of red and black cherry on nose and palate that is nicely bright and vibrant. Slightly meaty, slightly spicy, with overall fully engaging textures. Lots here, this is charming now, with plenty of upside. A very successful 2006, this is on'y the 2nd time I've had this wine, with the previous bottle sadly corked.

2006 and 1996 Jadot Bonnes Mares (Yan's China Bistro, Walnut Creek, Ca.): Nose of dry, dusty earth, and black fruit, same on the palate, big body, tasty, needs 5 years to show well, good acid, richer fruit and more fruit than the 2006 was the consensus but 5 years will tell, interesting comparison for me today. Picture uploaded.

(BONNES MARES Jadot) Burgundy Dear Friends, A few noteworthy red Burgundy's are set to arrive and they represent the magic that separates this region from the rest of the wine-world. While $150 for a bottle of wine is a large investment, this parcel of the cr_me-de-la-cr_me runs the gamut of tactile and tertiary impressions on the mind and on the palate. Fresh off tonight's Burghound (where 2006 Echezeaux, in general, was singled out for its exemplary success) this special lot should engage even the most jaded - all at prices that are very competitive.
