  • Amazing wine in a tough vintage! Packed with sour cherries in a lush but still very elegant style. The fruit is warm but never overdone and it still seems very young. Good overall structure and it can easily keep a lot longer. Impressive!

  • Didn't get to open as early as I'd like but started opening up within 30-60 min to show red cherry fruit and tobacco. Nice mouthfeel with medium body and good acidic lift given the hot vintage. Shows what a top notch winemaker can do managing vineyard and harvest to keep the resulting wine from being over-bearing and short. Really enjoyable and will be for 3-5 years maybe longer.

  • An interesting 2003 Brunello, deep medium to full body red. Decant it just over 45 min, I really suggest to leave it 90 min. Mushroom, plum, cherry and balsamic predominant on the palat. Leather, cedar and spices in the nose with a medium long finish, unfortunately the tanning acidic taste didn't really integrate with the sweetness of the berry taste but cutting quite sharp instead, I've also noticed that even 3 later the balance wasn't there, it actually got worst loosing most of the nose. Drink now to 2018, amazing with blue cheese...

  • Brunello Tasting (@ Wereldmuseum - Rotterdam, Netherlands): Curiously enough, this hot-vintage Brunello has but a medium-minus intense ruby core and a distinctly watery rim with just a smidge of garnet. It does however, show a bit more VA on the medium-minus intense nose, which nonetheless offers up reasonably precise gamey notes, some iron and chlorine minerality. Additional oxygenation unveils red (!) fruits and a flowery component, which lend lift and impart a modicum of elegance.Fullbodied on the attack, the mid-palate is more typically black-fruited and said blueberies and plums are kept fresh by medium-plus acidity while being supprted by supple medium tannins. Added complexity comes from hints of liquorice, beef stock and some dried herbs, which add up to medium-plus flavour intensity and quite good overall balance for a 2003 sporting 14%. It is not until halfway through the 20-25 second finish that a similarly cretaceous touch of minerals starts to surface and while I suspect an early harvest and/or very light extraction, I still consider this wine worthy of 92 points because of its pleasant texture and overall potability. If I had any in the cellar, I would drink my bottles soon...........TN Mike de Lange.

  • Color: Dark red cherry, 1 1/2 cm transparent pink rim.
Bouquet: Smoky, vanilla, red and black berry.
Flavor: Smoky, spicy intense red berry/ cherry with cassis on the mid-palate. Some vanilla and mocha on a long, savory 40 second plus finish.
Comments: Intense concentrated berry flavors that stand up to the drying tannins. Has the stuffing to keep improving. My favorite of the Enoteca tasting.
