Medium garnet in color. Quite muted the first day. I put the cork back on and forgot it for a couple of days. It definitely opened up over a couple of days. The nose is talcy, floral and red fruited. There's also a bit of kirsch too, kind of Chateauneufy. On the palate it is very Burgundian. Dry, bright, medium plus grip, high acid and raspberry, garrigue and some flowers. The wine finishes dry and dusty with decent length. Pretty bottle. Needs air. I don't see this evolving any further but given the acid and the tannin, it should hold there for a few years.

(Voillot Joseph Volnay Champans) This has been bottled a little longer and is a little deeper in colour. A wide, floral and interesting nose. In the mouth there's a little more understated power, more tannic but balanced and showing another dimension of flavour in the mid-palate. Also lovely.

Double decanted. Lots of sediment in the bottle. Red fruited, earthy nose, high pitched, lean, midway development. Drinking well, still has time.

Soft and enveloping. Maturing. So much sous bois with bright red cherries at the core. $135 at Corduroy.
