  • This bottle performed surprisingly well after 15 years. Bright golden, urine-like colour in the glass. Butter, diary, minerals, some honey and still plenty of tropical fruit in the nose. Strong acidity, lively and complex in the palet.

  • 12.5% alcohol. From memory, Sauv and Sem in about equal proportions, with a smattering of Muscadelle. Good long dense cork. The colour is sustained gold and, unless the light plays tricks on me, it deepens with exposure to air.
    The nose is rich but elegant with intense notes of gorse and some exotic fruit; a note of sweat develops over time (in a pleasant way), maybe as a result of the wine warming up. The mouth has excellent grip and refreshing acidity; yellow plum and lanolin. Very harmonious overall.
    This wine was forbiddingly acidic in its youth, but it is just glorious now. At its peak, and probably not for much longer ageing.
    Superb with poached hake (the whole beast).
    This is one of very few wines that I have been buying in quantity nearly every year, and I see no reason to change that policy.

  • 12.5% alcohol. Sem 55%, Sauv 44%, Muscadelle 1%. Very good cork with good elasticity. The colour is sustained gold.
    The nose is rich with yellow flowers (including gorse), yellow fruit and lanolin. The mouth follows suit with matching flavours and it adds substantial refreshing acidity in the finish; good length. Very harmonious, and a great match for pan fried turbot.
    In terms of refinement and enjoyment, I would put this wine at the same level as a good Village from the Côte de Beaune; the price difference is just astounding (it pays to have contrarian tastes).
    A repeat purchase (notwithstanding the previous oxidised bottle).

  • Oxidised, a first for me with this producer. Can't really complain given the age of the bottle, plus the next one was perfect.
    Still, time to drink up my remaining bottles of this vintage.
    As it so happens, I was planning a risotto for tomorrow...

  • Sauvignon léger sans être fade, raffiné, légèrement beurré.
    Avec fruits de mer et quiche.
    Peut rester en cave encore 2 ans.
    Beau travail du professeur.
