Rousseau 1964 Chambertin was a lean and elegant classic old Burgundy with incredible energy and minerality, and amazing spice, forest floor, mushroom and lingering dark fruit aromatics. This wine was incredibly elegant and had an amazingly long finish. I don't always assign a score to a wine at a dinner, but my notes read "easily 95+ points." It was possibly my "wine of the year" for about 10 minutes, that is until I tasted the 1966.
