From magnum, double decanted then open for 2 hours before dinner. Still component of primary fruit but rounded edges, ditto the tannins. Spring florals persist and a mineral/acid lift made a nice pairing with a wagyu tomahawk off of the grill. Delicious, and seems likely to make old bones. I would be very interested to try the same format in 10 years.

My fourth time enjoying the 2005 vintage of Caravina and notes are consistent with pervious examples. Color is still deep and youthful however there is stunning amount of sediment. Generous dark fruits with tobacco, leather, mushrooms and spices. The tannins are well integrated and acid at a level to keep everything in balance. The finish is impressively long. My last bottle and not upset about drinking it now while it’s still delivering at such a high level. Drink now (possibly with a short decant for sediment) but will drink well through 2025.

This is drinking exquisite now. Great dried musky blue fruit nose; bitter chocolate, mineral, earth, on the palate; smooth finish. Lots of sediment. First bottle of this one and looking forward to another a year from now (if I can wait).

yum! this bottle was consistent with community notes over the past year or two: 30-45 minutes in a decanter, then lots of enjoyment.
