Decanted a couple of hours in advance and it needed it. Not so much stinky after a bit but needed time and air to reveal itself. Ultimately quite fragrant, with tannins resolved although still a bit of (useful) structure, from acids and tannins. Great with quail!

fantastic nose. just kept giving and giving. bright cherries. tasted of truffles and forest floor, with some nice mineral undertones. not as long a finish as i would have hoped for but still a fantastic wine. might not evolve too much more in cellar.

Rose City Jeeb (Cafe Castagna - Portland, OR): Killer bottle. Aromatics were explosive with red berries, wet earth and a musky earthiness. This is a wine you can be happy just smelling. Luckily, I took the plunge and tasted it. Full of meat and earth tones over a core of berries and floral notes. Weightless yet powerful, this is firing on all cylinders.

Pure, delicious, unfettered, old-school red burgundy. Grand Cru through and through. Aromatically explosive with tiny red berried fruit interlaced with notes of truffles, stemmy cinnamon and more Gevrey earth than is usual in a Charmes. Delicious, weightless and tangy in the mouth with ultrafine tannins framing freshly-crushed red raspberry and pomegranate fruit propelled by a shimmering acid backbone. This is now "in the zone" and drinking beautifully. And much too easily.

Good clarity and freshness, some minerality. Dusty, shorter and sharper finish.
