Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 88.5 points

  • Another one that I had a difficult time scoring. If I had ever learned how to do the objective, component-based score, I suppose this might come in with a lower score. If going off pure enjoyment, it'd be a 90+ for me. So splitting the difference at 88pts. It's amazing to me how much Rhone character is imparted by the 12% blending of viognier and marsanne. Aromatic nose of tropical fruits and floral notes. Crisp palate, with a nice peach character on the midpalate. A hint of oak/tannin on the finish. No heaviness/syrup that often comes from overengineered chardonnay, or viognier in isolation. The structure at the finish makes me wonder about aging this a year, but it is so delightfully fresh now, I'd hate to see it lose that character. Came as part of the spring shipment from Keenan. The label is "truth in advertising". This will be a very nice wine (quaffer style) for the summer months, and worthy of a reorder.
