  D5 DipWSET FORTIFIED WINES with Adam Chase and Matt Gaughan; 4/9/2022-4/10/2022 (St Francis' Yacht Club San Francisco): A: Medium brown
  N: Pronounced nose of raisin, cooked pear, quince, smoke, caramel, toffee, coffee, chocolate, burnt orange
  P: Sweet, high acid, high alcohol, full body, pronounced intensity and long finish.
  C: The wine is of outstanding quality but not suitable for ageing.
  
  [note the Instructor finds Verdelho and Serial which has more citrus than the former, shows cheese rind and burnt sugar which AW says are signs of deliberate heating and oxidation]

  Drank this over an extended period (months). Stayed the course throughout. I do not have much experience drinking Madeira, and so it is difficult for me to place the wine among its peers. Nevertheless, this was balanced, a little sweet, but not at all cloying. I have one more. No rush to drink it.

  Even better after 4 month in a open bottle. Walnuts and dried fruits. Fullbodied, elegant Long.

  This bottle has spend 10 years in my cellar. At least.
  
  Dark amber. Raisins in the nose. Don´t pnp. Take a little dram and let it breath for 1-2 weeks (!) at least.
  Sweet, dried fruits, complex, decently structured and long.
  Can easily compete with many tawny ports and will surpass them.
