Rockss and Fruit

12/25/2003, (See more on Rockss and Fruit...)

(Gaston Chicquet "Special Club") Hugely detailed nose of roasted nuts, salt, citrus fruits, wool. New aromas each time I put my nose to the glass. The entry onto the palate is dramatic and intense with waves of bright almost sweet/sour (Riesling-like tension) citrus fruits. Cuts a deep swath on the palate and has some nutty elements in the middle. The acid is sharp yet has a softness due to brilliant integration. After a while open a smokey, bacon element comes out that is not that dissimilar to Hermitage or Crozes-Hermitage. This is unbelievable.
