  • I thought this drank really nicely. Hints of petrol with nice aged riesling honeyed notes.

  • Light yellow; sweet nose; mix of sweet and sour; not that complex or exciting

  • A little non discreet on the nose at first, but as the wine warmed in the glass, everything fell into place nicely. I’m pretty sure 2006 wasn’t known as a year for classic, intense wines in Alsace, but the tenacity of soil here was impressive to say the least. Pure and transparent notes and flavors of piercing and dry stones were offset by a dabble of fresh squeezed lemon juice and just touch of volcanic flint on the finish. I thought this would be on the verge of “drink up soon” category, and while it certainly can be enjoyed today, no question this has at least another 5 years of prime time drinking, maybe more.

  • Korean BBQ Wine Dinner at Park's (Park's Barbeque): Salty earth, great high acidity, excellent minerality; beautiful wine with bright tones.

  • I’ve really been hammering through a fair amount of Rieslings as of late, and I’ve came to a satisfying conclusion: when push comes to shove, I simply adore Alsatian Riesling and wines like this are the reason why. It’s that picture perfect marriage of dry, salivating acidity married with that oh so skillful and gentle touch of rich r.s that trully makes the experience take on a third dimension. You really had to work the nose, but when aggressively prodded, the fiery Brand terroir was in fine form indeed. Initially very dry in the mouth, but as soon as your tongue had adjusted to the paper cup sharp acidity, a balloon of rich yellow plums and spice lifts the palate into a sensual delight. Still young of coarse, but this will be a real gem of a wine in another 4 to 6 years. Purchased locally for $29 and I am definitely going back for more. I’d love to compare this side by side with a ZH Brand, would make a hell of a tasting.
