  • Light red, clear colour. In the nose red cherries, quite spicy (with some Glühwein spice mixture?), undergrowth and humus, a hit of oak. A bit of a "warm" feeling to the spicy note, overall a rather impressive nose. Medium bodied, cherries/morellos, quite present acidity, some spice, a hint of bitterness and just a slight alcohol bite (13,5% according to the label), just-below-medium level tannins but with a bit of hard edge to them. A bit of a rough feeling to the palate, but will it really improve with time? The tannins beg for a number of years of cellaring to mellow, and while the acidity is there to support long-term development, the slight alcoholic impression has me somewhat worried; there is a risk that it would become more unbalanced with time.
