Interesting wine that I preferred on day 2. This developed some rather nice silky red fruit, dried florals and some roasted meats. Despite being not overly complex, this was enjoyable.

Thursday Night Grab Bag (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): still quite dark in the glass. the nose is full of soft fruits, raspberries, plums. i also get a bit of slim jim on the nose. lots of fresh fruit and slim jim on the palate, with some black pepper. some charcoal on the finish.

Well this was surprising - much deeper and darker than anticipated. This had a lovely forward nose of blackberry, treacle, mint and eucalyptus. Medium bodied with smooth tannins, still decent acidity. Tastes like liquified ultra dark chocolate with blackberry essense and creme de cassis added. Dry on finish - like dark chocolate. This was very tasty and well worth the $15 from Winebid.

Funky, there is still some fruit but it is mostly stewed plums with some off flavors.
