Big vanilla nose. Sweet baking spices of cardamom and cinnamon. Subtle tropical fruit sweetness, surprisingly ripe for Mornington Peninsula, and a nuttiness. Presumably there was a bit more fruit initially that has faded with years, this is now mostly a wine of secondary characteristics. High quality and still very enjoyable, just needed a bit more fruit to still be there to be something very special.
Opened with some trepidation due the age but this is in really good condition with a near-perfect balance of youth and maturation. Ripe lemon and orange citrus contrasts nicely with a slight bitterness of grapefruit pith. There's a solid whack of vanilla backed by subtler notes of gingerbread spice, and some almond, almost marzipan. Acidity still present but rounding out. Alcohol a touch hot is the only fault for me.

Strong oak influence. Vanilla and baking spice. Fruit faded, but still enjoyable at ~19 yrs of age.
