  • Champagne (Waterford Wines Milwaukee): big aromatics. great minerality and flower blossoms. sweet flower and white pepper. wickedly mineral driven palate.

  • The big black bottle. Mineral with iron and strawberry. A clarity here but the clarity of a restless experimenter. Shows its fruit wonderfully, but also shows Rene and shows the house style. Which is fun in the context of this tasting and the different mixtures of grapes. Flowery with some soy as it opens. Later, focused, driving, an intellegence that wants to take you somewhere and knows something you don't. Earl grey tea (green with orange peel). Extrodinary beautiful and easy to drink. Youthful, with vigour.

These wines were tasted together: N.V. Marc Hébrart Champagne Premier Cru "Cuvee de Reserve", N.V. René Geoffroy Champagne Expression Brut, 2000 René Geoffroy Champagne Millésime, 1997 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Brut.
