  • A magical wine to finish off a rather good lunch on Sunday 13 August 2023.

The colour is an orange-gold but still quite bright. The aromas are luscious - toffee, apple, some spice and pineapple.

The palate is long and remarkably fresh, almost crisp. There is no cloying sensation of sweetness, though this is clearly an Auslese style. There is a wonderful sense of layering in this wine and also of space - as the good Dr F once said of a wine 'cathedrals'.

Hard to get Keller in Australia but once you are at the upper end it is always worth it. Von der Fels etc. at the budget end can be very rewarding as well, although I find the record there to be a little more mixed.
