Picked up at auction on the cheap, very pleasant surprise: much more Burgundian than California, with juicy dark cherry and a loamy mushroomy note, no hint of heat or overripe sweetness, good acid, smooth tannin.

Very nice wine. Still had a solid core of black cherry fruit. Drank for dinner with a Thomas Keller recipe for Roasted Chicken with root vegetables.
