Blackberry, cigar box, leather, vegetal notes; smooth, graceful, mature, very good length and presence, extended; fruits are mostly faded but well preserved and structured After 1.5 Hours: Nose is similar but more integrated, with cigar box and hints of perfume now more dominating; on palate more gripping and enticing but also more tart and less smooth or elegant, but engaging, lively, and pleasing

In a good state of maturity but frankly I found this a bit meh. Solid mature claret favours, a but tarry after a couple of hours. I’ve forgotten it already.

The 1989 Langoa Barton is showing beautifully, unwinding in the glass with aromas of Cuban cigars, cassis, cedar and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, muscular and structured, with a deep core of fruit and a firm chassis of rich, structuring, tannins, it's an old-school Médoc that still hasn't attained full maturity.

Colour still deep, the nose is cedary but also a bit leafy, not quite as ripe as I expected. The palate has flesh and is broad and easy but not so much on the finish that falls away a bit, drink up and enjoy now, current vintages feel much more impressive.
