I've had a few of these set aside for some time now...I had it first upon release and it showed so much promise that I was curious where it would go with a little quiet rest. Popped it open about an hour ago, so here goes...
I must sadly agree with the last few posted comments: Classic, calm, reserved, but with a potential (especially on the nose) that sadly will not express itself no matter how hard you anticipate it...one dimensional...like a loyal butler you might piss off (perhaps on purpose) but who will never raise their voice in retaliation...at once stoic and tragic.
All the right ingredients are there...the fruit is present (cassis and other dark fruit)...there's wood, vanilla, and tobacco, and some terroir funk that screams "I'm Spanish, baby"...but somehow it just doesn't come together; somewhat disjointed, like Beethoven's 5th performed by the local high school.
With that said, this wine has the best of intentions, and all-in-all not bad for the price range. Still, after exercising such patience, I would have enjoyed a more harmonious evolution. Ah well...Here's to us all...CHEERS!

Opened up this wine with Italian sausage/vodka sauce gnocchi, no se porque....was pretty good actually. Nice red fruit, tannins, and well-integrated oak. A bit of leather but quite faint which is what I love from Tempranillo. Overall it was enjoyable and worth opening but also fairly one dimensional. Should be no worries drinking this now or in a few but when the fruit starts to fade this will collapse.

Nachdem ich den Joven getrunken hatte, hätte ich ein wenig mehr erwartet. Nicht schlecht aber auch kein Knaller.

Very pleasant but a tad simple. No reason to sit on these. Drink up.

Just a regular Ribera del Duero with some slightly red fruit with new french oak well-integrated. I'm still waiting for something more.
