Deep, dark purple hue. Dark berries, prunes, spice/pepper nose. Full bodied wine, very pleasant, drinking great at this time. Spice, pepper, hint of vanilla, deep dark fruit. Nice.

Much leaner than when released, with an almost Shiraz-like nose of herbs, sweaty leather, and violets; starts off with strong notes of bitter cherries and licorice on the palate. Dusty notes soon also appear on the nose, and a smoky element on the backpalate provides an additional layer to contemplate. After two hours the wine finally comes together structure-wise, as well as it can given its age, and while still hot it's got measured tannins that make for a silky mouthfeel. Decisively past its prime nevertheless. 87-88 at this point in time

This was the perfect time to enjoy the 2006 N&B. Opened about 3 or 4 hours before serving. FABULOUS. I think it's at its peak but since it's my last bottle of 06, I'll never know...

(Herman Story Nuts and Bolts) #4; COLOR-dark; NOSE-black pepper driven; little clove; beef jerky as well; hint of onion stew; big blackberries coming through; solid; TASTE-big, real big; wow; totally coats my palate; big massive fruit; tons of chocolate, raspberries & blackberries; heavy plum action which I like quite a bit; slightly over-the-top, but not in an obnoxious way; but hot on the finish; more refined than many fruit bombs, but a hair too much for me; many will like this; should cellar this, but should open up nicely in 3-4 years; but a fun hedonistic ride; not quite for me, but many are paying $60 bones to get this ride; RP-91; GV-88+

2 hour decant to start but opened up beautifully over the next 3 hours. Definitely ready to drink but ease into it. Delish!!
