  • Grenache Gris and Maccabeu on limestone and schist soils.
Medium+ old gold in colour; Intense, raised aromas of struck match, crushed rocks and minerals galore. Some development.
The palate echoes the nose with crushed limestone rocks, almost like licking a struck flint stone. Yellow and white fruit but more flowers, citrus and herbal giving a sense of garrigue for a white wine! Certainly a a very mineral, saline style of wine, almost briny, yet with a creaminess to the mid-palate and white pepper. No prominent wood and drinking very nicely. Long farewell with that mineral-laden grip.

  • Chilled and opened, the aromas yielded a bizarre matchstick/sulphuric note that carried over to the palate, a butterscotch flavor on a bright acidic, somewhat dry wine. This was hard to drink, as the matchstick/cat urine flaw carried throughout the experience. Got somewhat better with air and warmth, but still feel this wine is inherently flawed in some way. Will be interested to see what others experiences are.
