- Garnet color and aromas of oak, cherry and blackberry. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of black currant, black pepper, blackberry and cloves with a medium body. Round texture with a medium finish.

A lot of fruit and a little oak on the nose but pretty nice nose overall. A little more oak and some cherry on the finish. I agree it got a little smoother with a few hours to air out. I could see this being a little too oaky for some but overall I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better $8-$9 grocery store merlot.

Popped at cellar temeperature and nocticed this one is better on the cool side. As it warms the traits dontime mentioned started to come through. I hadn't noticed that one my first bottle. The cork on this wine seems to be a liitle small in size and comes out too easily. The wine is already just about halfway up the cork. I wouldn't hold on to these too long before drinking. Still a decent selection for $9 but like dontime i won't be looking for more.

Even at the state monopoly store pricing not much going on here. Artificial fruit and sweet oak. I don't see any more bottles in my future.
