Visiting Phillip Jones of Bass Phillip (Gippsland Australia): Barrel Tasting with Phillip Jones as he was racking the wine into a steel tank for bottling in 15 days time. Hard to judge, as this was still in the final stages of malolactic fermentation, but I think it will be a beauty. Yellow gold in colour, extremely fragrant nose, with tropical fruits like pineapple and nectarine, and flowery, musky tones, underpinned with lightly toasted butter. Great freshness on the palate, and a good sense of balance, with full, bright and very focused flavours. After time, the wine appeared well layered, with green apple flavours appearing and a long nutty finish. Very impressive indeed.

Light floral and lime with some vanilla and spice. Light richness to the palate which is very appealing. Nice detail across the length.
