Can you say Bacon Fat? The oak from the '99 Tardieu Laurent Cornas has fallen back to reveal a bouquet of salty, savory, roasted meat, smoke and animal musk. On the palate, it was lifted and peppery, but also smooth with dark fruits and brisk acids, while hints of animal muskiness and smoked meats carried through from the nose. The finish was medium-long, spicy and dark fruited with hints if unruly acids lingering. Rustic, old-school Cornas at its best. Wow!

Mostly leather and somewhat smokey meat on the nose. Similar on the palate, the moderate amount of fruit that's still there is an Italian-like funky cherry. Good acid
