(Domaine de Gournier Merlot, Costières de Nîmes) I love this wine for the simple purity of tasty Merlot. After a decade of drinking mediocre Merlot, it’s refreshing to find one with great flavor and balance, especially at this price. Domaine de Gournier, a gem of a find from the Kacher portfolio, is the passion of Maurice Barnouin, a farmer from Nîmes. Made with classic cuttings from the Right Bank of Bordeaux, using hand-harvesting and stainless-steel vinification, this wine shows remarkable complexity and depth. Truly a great value, and a perfect wine for any by-the-glass list. Hot Picks
