  • Zachy's La Paulee 2020; 3/5/2020-3/6/2020 (Le Bernardin Prive): Isn’t this a surprise — showing great pedigree. Not as concentrated as Domaine Corton but greatly resolved clarity. Very enjoyable. 94

  • Lovely Corton, deep red in color with bricking. Quite deep and complex nose with dried meat, spicy, barest hint of rusticity and flowers. Medium plus palate with good fruit, good complexity, medium finish. Very enjoyable now, on the elegant side for a Corton.

  • I was inspired to bring this after Don Cornutt's recent note; I had this a year ago and wanted to see how it had progressed, and how it tasted to me after learning a great deal about Burgundy in the past year. It was great to drink it alongside the Guyon: here the earthiness was even more profound. This was clearly the bigger, more muscular and rugged wine. Whereas the Corton-Bressandes offered more silk and sweetness, this wine probed deeper into the earth, with more gamy aspects. Later in the evening some notes of soy and Asian spices made an appearance. Superb aromatics but otherwise distinctly firm and youthful. I will hold my remaining bottles another five years or so, as the wine is in no danger of falling apart.
