deep golden, fresh almonds, white peach, persimmon?, and tomatillo. on the palate, opens up to have good acidity after an hour, medium and chalky finish, very enjoyable

At age 5 this is still holding up but probably time to drink up now. Colour is golden and shows age. Apricot and peach nose. The palate is quite rich with a mineral finish. Nice

Wow, what a difference the next day in this wine. What was an underwhelming wine transformed into something interesting, complex and enjoyable. Decant well in advance. I'm still not sure I love the bitter finish I get from garganega wines, though.

10 days' skin contact for this bianco (50/50 inzolia and grecanico, aka garganega). It does smell like fruit skin, particularly of the yellow apple and peach and starfruit persuasion, and it also shows a whiff of salty minerals. On the palate it's full and broad, a touch waxy, and lacks some presence at midpalate — it all seems to rush to the cheeks unless I specifically direct the wine down the middle of my tongue. Even then the finish is rather simple and flat. Tasted over three days and the experience was consistent. I've heard great things about the 08 and 09 vintages and hope to try them.
