Needs decanting. A little musty on the nose. Cherries, some underlying citrus notes, flinty, graphite tanins on the finish that hang out for a bit. A touch of leather and earth. Medium to long finish. Pleasantly balanced. Nice to drink.

A pretty interesting wine, bright and floral on the nose with cherry being the main player, but as it evolved I noticed underlying popcorn and pickle components. On the palate, there were cherries and blueberries with a smoky graphite tinge, also a subtle hint of pine sap.

A rustic, muted, easy drinking rioja as others have mentioned. I did have an issue with bitterness on the finish though, not sure whether I'm still traumatized from the last bottle I drank - a beaujolias that was disasterously bitter... I don't think I'll score it because of that.

Wizards Tasting (The Mooring): Decent. Traditional. Good fruit. Nice acidity. Solid.
