Bottled unfiltered in (July) 2009. D+0h: a little bit of deposit in the filter and the bottle, for a port with at least ten years of bottle age it’s surprisingly little deposit, smells of black currant, raspberry and cherry D+13h: dark as ink, on the rim purple red, smells unusually of cherry, blackberry, raspberry, vanilla and eucalyptus, smooth in the mouth, not hot/spirituous, medium body, not overly sweet, for a port almost ‘half-dry’, in the mouth blackberry, cherry and vanilla, in the aftertaste blackberry, raspberry, vanilla and acidity, good length (30 sec) D+14h: now tastes dominantly of dark chocolate. Really very good port with an (for me at least) unusual flavour profile (I’m not familiar with Douro bottled ports), it is also still very youthful and doesn’t have the maturity notes which one would expect after eleven years in bottle, so it’s early in its drinking window. It’s a pity I just bought this one bottle years ago.

Aromas and flavors of intense blackberry and blueberry. A little hot on its own, but paired with a chocolate soufflé, the heat goes away and more dark fruit is revealed.

PnVnD. Proper LBV with a cork that needs to be drawn. Dark purple crimson saturated with a red rim. Plum coffee licorice and xmas pudding aromas. Medium(+) weight with silky tannins. Flavors echo the aromas. Lingering macerated cherry fig coffee and licorice flavors on the finish. Nice would buy again and again.

Restaurant pour ... Rich and velvety. Sweet, but not sickly so. A treat for a non-port aficionado and perfectly paired with post-dinner cheese plate at Victoria and Albert's.

(Quinta do Crasto Late Bottled Vintage Port) Unfiltered; bottled 2009. Notes of blackberry, herbs, cocoa, and pine provide a unique, multifaceted aromatic profile. Full and rich, primary and dry, this is a well-made ’05 exhibiting loads of acidity and round tannins. The palate shows great purity of fruit, with dominant boysenberry and blackcurrant flavors and a sexy, smooth texture. The finish is extraordinarily long. Drink after 2012, or cellar for two decades or more. LBV: The Other Vintage Port
