Much less impressed with this second time around. Could be bottle variation, a slump, etc., but this lacked almost all the traits that made the first pseudo-Alsatian one so nice. More like a CA attempt at pinot gris, and simply not worth the money this time around. A pity.

OMG did I love this wine. Visited my favorite Illinois winery, the apocalyptically underrated Lynfred Winery in Roselle Illinois. Fred, the guy who started the show, is a genius with what he does with grapes sourced from great places. This misnamed pinot grigio (it was more like a gris from OR) is fantastic, a bruiser for the style. Incredible, lush big fruit aroma and front end mouth feel, no way even remotely like the oceans of sour Italian pinot grigio out there. Strong gout de petrol, very Alsatian. $20 is a bit steep, but this is an Illinois winery that has to import its grapes, so shipping costs, blah blah blah. Fred's better wines tend to sell out quick, so if you are a lover of Alsatian or Oregon pinot gris, BUY THIS DAMN WINE!!!
