  • Drank from magnum. Phenomenal pinot noir that is holding up perfectly in magnum format. Maybe the WOTN -- and that's saying a lot because we had some classics!

  • 1988 WILLIAMS SELYEM SONOMA COAST PINOT NOIR- 50% Russian River Valley, 50% Sonoma Coast; the aromatics had some leather, cedar and earthy notes almost suggestive of Brett that gave way to wonderful slightly sweet, lightly spiced red cherry; it was light and easy on the palate and on its own, a pleasant drink and not flawed.

  • Very well preserved. Now a pure almandine garnet in color. Lovely mature yet bright Pinot nose. Smells like a fallen log in the forest after it has rained, plus a lovely redcurrant-raspberry-red cherry mix that has been lightly bruleed. On the palate this still has a little tannin and lots of acidity. Remarkable structure for its age, literally no unwanted signs of oxidation. Bright but smooth, dry but sweetly fruity. Mellow but surprisingly rich. a little meaty. Quite long. An excellent bottle in impeccable condition. 12.5%. £50.
