  (BILLI BILLI Shiraz Mt Langi) $8.99 Dear Friends, Not much to say here except this is another offer where you may want to skip the verbiage and reply sooner rather than later... What’s available in the US market from one of the oldest/most respected wineries in the New World? Not a whole lot. For those of you unfamiliar with Victoria and Mt. Langi Ghiran, their marriage of district and philosophy produces nothing like the hot-climate results of South Australia (Barossa/McLaren Vale, et al). Their history is based on a cool-climate, high-altitude pedigree that produces ripe, balanced and full wines that express more than just brown sugar and Amarone tones. In general, the best wines of Victoria (and Langi) show a steak of authenticity that prove their worth on the world stage as Australia's most deserving ambassadors of individuality. Today, we have a “Thank You” holiday offer that is just about impossible to obtain at this price. The Billi Billi Shiraz has been a Garagiste fan favorite for many years - it is Mt. Langi Ghiran’s first-level Shiraz from estate fruit and fruit they farm/purchase from their neighbors in the Grampians mountain district of Victoria. At $12-15, it’s what bargain Shiraz should be – sultry red cherry and damson with notes of fresh berries and light framing tannins that allow it drink on release and over a 4-6 year period (or longer). At $8.99, it’s a bit of a laugh: So, how’s the wine? Decent – actually, more than decent. It’s not Grange but at the price below I doubt anyone will care. A few years in bottle have rounded the palate even further but it’s in no hurry of consumption (it continues to drink far better on the second night or after at least 6-8 hours of air – I would decant this for a minimum of 3-4 hours). If it means anything, The Wine Enthusiast (a source I rarely quote) is set to give the wine a rating with a “Best Buy” designation in their issue out next month. James Halliday the same. Here goes...
