Italian Whites at "Le Petit Sommelier" restaurant, Athens. Greece. This wine is supposed to require early consumption, but the bottle we had showed very well despite being 4 years old. Fairly dark straw, with a floral and herbal nose revealing chamomile and sage with hints of minerality. Mid-bodied, nicely balanced with rich fruit, good acidity and a surprisingly long aftertaste. One of the night's overperformers.

Lesser Italian White Varietals (Duchman Family Winery Driftwood, Texas): Another favorite in our tasting, it had an intense floral nose, some bite, noticeable tannins, and good acidity and balance. Honeysuckle, hibiscus, spice, vanilla, "fresh starch," dried apricot, caramel, and peach flavors were noted.

Wine Education Service Sicily & Sardinia Tasting (LSE, London): Perfumed nose, fairly delicate and floral. Some notes of toasted nuts and a touch of cream. Very sharp and acidic palate but bags of flavour. Fresh with a bitter nutty dry finish. Good value.
