Community Tasting Notes (2) Median Score: 87 points

  • Late May 2012: black red color; weak cherry flavor; slightly austere on the palate; medium/full body; fleshy texture; plenty of tannins.

This wine was very closed. Usual for an eight year old Gigondas? I find it rather unusual. So goes my question: will this wine even open up?

  • Popped and poured. Maybe it was this particular bottle. The wine was surprisingly tight. It never really opened up (in contrast to the 2004 Vacqueyras from the domaine, which is drinking beautifully). If I had more, I would decant for 1-2 hours. 87+
