  • Waiting another year for this wine was a mistake. While it showed well last year, between then and now the fruit has begun the fade and the acidity overtaking the wine. Tart cherry and cola on the attack and mid-palate while licorice and cigar carry the finish. But the acidity is too bright and dominates everything. To see if this was bottle variation, we pulled another one of these to taste the same night and again the next night. Both bottles showed the same problem: the fruit is fading and fading fast. The wine lacks complexity. A shadow of sediment coats the bottle. 14% alc. With salmon under mustard panko crust. Recommended with Reservations.

  • The bright cranberry in the glass seems to defy the “Loring red” we’ve come to expect in Brian’s wines. Light finds it way through the core of the wine. The nose is a bit odd with a dominant cigar scent, but still very much a member of the Loring family with bright cherry, citrus zest and cranberry. Each element comes through cleanly and well formed on the palate .... even the cigar, carries from the attack to the finish. Perhaps what was once Asian 5 spice has transformed to this sense of “cigar”. Cola and lavender fill in the mid-palate. Sweet licorice carries the finish for a decent length. Exuberant? Yes, but the wine lacks complexity. A shadow of sediment coats the bottle. 14% alc. With grilled bone-in pork chops under shitake mushrooms and Gorgonzola cheese. While the dishes were good and the wine was good, the two never married well. Recommended.

  • I am really impressed with this bottle - I can't believe how good it was. Well balanced. Earthy. Moderately vibrant black fruits. I would have enjoyed a touch more acid, but really nothing to complain about.

  • It was ok. However it tasted a bit tired. Not very exciting.

  • This wine is bright with black cherry, spicy with cloves and showing some earthy, mushroom aspects. As good as the attack is, the mid-palate is short. Aspects of balsamic, vanilla and cloves cover the finish in a hurry. The entire package is carried on a sturdy frame of acidity. In fact, the acidity detracts from the finish crating a somewhat harsh, unpleasant finish. 14.1% alc. With pan seared pork chops with au poivre mushroom sauce. Recommended, but leaning toward Recommended with Reservations.
